Reasearches about Torres' life & work are rare. Except J.L.Romanillos' book in the 80s, there's not such a deep approach about the creator of the most played instrument in the world.
The soundtrack of this film is inspired by the origins of the flamenco toque (Rondeña, Malagueña...), also by the european classical composers (Bach, Schubert...) and reaching the most universal Spanish music (Tárrega, Granados...). Torres' guitars have been played at well known international prestigious enclaves such as Palau de la Musica de Barcelona, Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza, next to a Stradivarius violin at the Stradivari Museum in Cremona or at Torres' house/workshop in La Cañada de San Urbano in Almería.
Co-producers and co-directors of 'La Española, la de Torres' (The Torres' Spanish Guitar), this cousins, after a few years dedicated to the creation of shortfilms like 'Bienvenido a Ciudad', 'Keep Calm & Just Married' or 'No te sorprendas', which were selected in film festivals in Almería, Málaga or Porto, at the end of 2016 they started a new audiovisual project with the intention of making a small tribute to their celebrated great-grandfather, D. Antonio de Torres Jurado, creator of the current Spanish Guitar.
This project started as a humble shortfilm to honour their ancestor, has end up being a full featured documentary film, thanks to two crowdfunding campaigns, national and international institutions and to the selfless help of an enormous number of people that wanted to collaborate on this deserved recognition to the almerian carpenter who changed the history of the guitar and also, of the music.
